How terribly sad that a county would endorse hate!

Kampala, Uganda (CNN) -- The editor of a tabloid in Uganda who argues that homosexuality is more dangerous than smoking, has published a list of 10 gay and lesbian people in the African nation, urging readers to report them to the police.

It's the second time that Rolling Stone -- no relation to the iconic U.S. music magazine -- has published such a list.

Last time it listed 100 of what it called the country's top gays and lesbians, with photos and addresses alongside a yellow banner reading "hang them."

Gay rights groups in Uganda say at least four people have been attacked since then.

And a bill that would make homosexuality potentially punishable by death is working its way through Uganda's parliament.

HOW I SEE IT: The country of Uganda is largely Christian, and is dominated by support of the American Christian . Under the guise of protecting the institution of the family, being Gay is cause for real concern. Gosh, I just wonder how Jesus would look upon these morons. May GOD have mercy on the Gays in this environment. Have strength and GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!

As for the Christian community whom would continue to preach hate, I wish you the same and more back at you. How desperate and pathetic you must be to worry about the small minority of gays, that we somehow would inflict more damage to the institution of family and marriage. How sad that you would think that Gays are recruiting from your schools. HOW SAD FOR YOU INDEED! Wake up, and think and live like a true CHRISTIAN!

I was again surprised by the absolute ignorance of this media mouth, on The View, Bill proclaimed that Muslims killed us on 9/11, whereas Whoopi and Joy attempted to correct him to specify that extremists did so. It was only later that he seemed to correct himself only to address it once again on his show by saying that we are much to worried about correctness. Such as asshole! I would like to believe he misspoke, but once again he panders to his right wing crowd. I believe in civility to a point, but to let his comments go without outrage is what furthers this belief, as HATE is what he preaches. Sadly, people believe what he says and that is terribly scary.

I am astonished and ashamed at the ignorance displayed by comments made to a orthodox Jewish leadership by Carl Paladino. Regardless of what YOU THOUGHT you said, you, like so many others are using homosexuality to divert from what is most important to the electorate.

The notion that you could become gay or be influenced is all the more example of your ignorance. I only hope that this comes back to slap you in the face!

Times are a changing... today our wonderful leaders not only get paid several hundred thousand dollars yearly, plus health care, vacation, car expenses, travel expenses, meals.... and the list goes on. When are the PEOPLE going to demand something better. These folks, our elected representatives, are presumed servants... given this, I will take that job.

For people whose lives rival our wealthiest citizens, who reap the benefits vs. serving the people. They would have you believe that they are ONE OF US... that that is furthest from the truth. I work, pay is cut, benefits are cut and I worry about the next month. I struggle to make ends meet, but yet I am lucky as I am employed. So where are the similarities? I suggest that our politicians, and I use that term purposely, need to leave and go back to their private lives without benefits. DEMAND Term Limits; demand that their family serve in the armed forces! Maybe then they can BE ONE OF US!

I agree with Whoopi Goldberg who has repeated asked that we have access to the same benefits afforded to our elected politicians. If it works for them and the system works, gosh why then can it not work for the rest of us?

Our senators/congressmen are fully vested into their benefit packages after just FIVE years, something that the average American would neither dream of or expect, yet they get it both Democrat and Republican... and no one is questioning them These benefits are extended to their families, free to choose in-service and out of service providers. IT WORKS! But not for us!

We must demand equality and or abolish the benefit packages for our polician elites.

Tea Party... another arm of the GOP

Much like many people, I too am disappointed in results of our Congress and President and had begun to look at the Tea Party movement. I find that the Tea Party is largely based on racism, hidden in argument of big government. In my discussions with local tea party supporters, it is evident that their support of the movement is riddled with racism comments, to include comments aimed at Mexican Americans and Black Americans.

My dissatisfaction with the President and for that matter Congress is the lack of progress, the disgust for business who took federal money with little to no regard for the citizenry in how they continue to operate business. I am insulted by BOTH parties for how they continue to play the electorate. We are fed snippets and each side, republican and Democrat, then runs with what they have been told to further enforce those misguided ideals. The true tea party, as I saw it, was based upon a distrust of both parties... but now I see it as a movement that embraces the likes of Sara Palin, who herself is blinded by stupidity.

I hope people will see what is happening is much of what we have witnessed for years, an ineffective government that does not serve the people, but rather severs themselves. I applaud President Obama for refocusing his efforts and hope that the people will support those efforts.

As is stands, the movement of the Tea Parties is bullshit! Hate based views are an insult to everyone and furthers the division of all Americans. Heck, if you want to effectuate change, VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS and demand term limits. Hey, how about we demand to send all the children of our legislators to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan...

I appreciate those who have their religious beliefs, commitments and such, but when it comes to that... you should impart those beliefs on those whom you can influence and not legislate to those of us who don't wish to follow your line.

What is wrong with the separate of Church and State... or is that just another ideal which we can pick and choose our beliefs. Much like religion, it is a pick and choose mentality that is an affront to people.

My rights, gay or otherwise are MY RIGHTS. The bigot majority truly needs to got home and preach to those who will listen. YOUR FAMILY NOT MINE!

Are we really surprised at the lack of conservative cooperation. NO! The right continues with its agenda featuring lack of cooperation and lack of dedication to its citizens. I say that they should all be thrown out, right and left, as it seems that they unwilling to do the peoples business. What they are doing is their business, something that is quite alarming as their business seems to be the continuance of the re-election. Gosh I wonder if they are willing to let their children serve in the wars, or if they are willing to forgo their wonderful health and dental plans.

I just finished the movie OUTRAGE, Do Ask Do Tell, and am more encouraged that this movie will further our conversation of the rights of gays and how the electorate is manipulated. I congratulate those who brought this movie to fruition and hope that his will serve to OUT those who serve under the guise of being straight.

It certainly would be one thing to further the conservative agenda IF you are straight, but I find it unacceptable and thoroughly disgusting for those who are gay and still further the message of intolerance towards gays.

I would ask my family and friends to see this move and spread its message.

Rick Warren and the Ugandan Connection

You may have heard about the shocking proposed legislation in Uganda that would impose the death penalty for some gay Ugandans and imprison their family and friends for up to seven years if the do not report alleged homosexual activity.

Remember Rick Warren? Warren is the controversial preacher who endorsed Proposition 8 that Obama invited to be a part of the inaugural ceremonies.

you might wonder why I would encourage your endorsement of an amendment to protect the institution of marriage... well, given that it was the claim of those supported prop 8, I too now want to endorse that protection. Let us now amend the constitution to make divorse illegal. Heck, that will do so much more to protect the institution of marriage.

Lets remember what the bible teaches:

I find it interesting that folks complain about the concept of socialized health care, and find it also interesting that they will take welfare, social security, medicare, medicaid... but consider those to be WHAT? Socialized! Jeez, who woulda thunk? Come on folks, socialism, more than the term the conservatives would have us consider un-American is what we live in and by. If you truly disbelieve in socialism, please then return you SS check and disown any form of social service.

I am further dismayed when I am told that Canadians are coming to the US for health care; and find that ludicrous. I have family and friends that range the Canadian continent, let alone family and friends in England, Holland, France and Germany... and not ONE has ever thought to go to the US for health care. In fact, they find this laughable. Trust me, if you believe what you have been told, then you have been sold! Sold out. Our elected representatives have money for their health care, the military, NASA, pet projects, bridges in Alaska... but no funds for health care. We are the wealthiest country, yet we cannot provide this to our citizens.

Please open your mind and hearts, health care should not ever be to those who can afford it, it should be a human and humane right!

To begin, let me say again that it IS American to question what is fair and to demand equality, whether that be for equality in treatment and health care. I will add that I have friends and family in Canada, The Netherlands, France and Germany, and not one person there is planning any trips to the US to obtain health care. They seem pretty darn content in what they have, and regardless of the social economic standing, and what they will continue to have.

We must not to be mislead by the insurance industry and medical establishment, drug companies and the like into believing that health care reform is somehow un American. Special Interest and their influence on our government is un American. Let us not listen or give credence to Sarah Palin, who seems to be continue her campaign of fear mongering in her new life. She injects non truths in the same way her ticket did during the election.

Health care and the costs associated is what will continue to drain our economy, as we continue to spend more than any other industrialized county, yet have a lower life expectancy. Our legislators have a better health plan than the citizenry... this just is wrong. If you wish, continue with what you have, but to deny or not make health care available to all is wrong!

Sonia Sotomayor became the Supreme Court's newest justice Saturday, pledging during a brief ceremony at the high court to defend the Constitution and administer impartial justice.

Sotomayor, 55, is the first Hispanic justice and only the third woman in the court's 220-year history.

Another victory for diversity! I applaud her appointment and feel certain that she will continue to be fair and impartial.

Sarah Palin Might Not Know What a Platform Is

Yesterday Sarah Palin did a phone interview with James Dobson of Focus on the Family. Most of it went pretty well -- lucky, he's a creep who likes children, that's an important sign; lucky, she's an asshole with children, small world, isn't it? -- but there was one ugly gotcha question:

Dobson:
The Republican Platform is the strongest pro-life, pro-family document to come out of a political party, even more so than the platforms during the campaigns of Ronald Reagan. There are principles there that I've been fighting for for thirty, forty years and you are trying to articulate those same principles, aren't you?
Oh jeez.

See, the problem here, for most Republican politicians, is that the platform is horrifying. A catalogue of revenge dreams and power fantasies, impossible and illegal, most of them involving women and scourging. It's the portrait in the attic of what Republican rule would look like, if the zealot half took over and pushed out the half who are just in it for the money.

It's not what you'd call a moderate document. Bob Dole, famously, claimed he never even read it.

That's what makes it a gotcha question, for most candidates. How to get around it. For Sarah Palin, what makes it a gotcha question is that I'm pretty sure she doesn't know that her party has a platform, or what one is.

He might as well be asking her the atomic weight of unbinilium.

So she goes into Palin bluff mode. What words does she have to work with from the question? "Platform." Good. We know that word. It's like a deck. "Pro-life." We heard about that at church. "Reagan." He was sort of like a young John McCain. Got it. Go.

Palin:
Absolutely, and Dr. Dobson thank you so much for recognizing that. This is a strong platform around the planks in this platform that respect life and respect the entrepreneurial spirit of this great country and those things, back to the social issues that are what Republicans, at least in the past, had articulated and tried to stand on.
Pause. Did that do it? Wait for next question. Darn it, he's not saying anything. That's okay, we can do this. Deep breath.

Palin:
Now, finally, we have very solid planks in the platform that will allow us to build an even stronger foundation for our country. It's all good and it's encouraging. You would maybe have assumed that we would have gotten further away from those strong planks. But no, they're there, they're solid, we stand on them and again I believe that it is the right agenda for the country at this time. Very, very clear and contrasted tickets in this election November 4th. People are going to see the clear contrasts, you just go to the planks in our platforms and that's where you see them.
And... done. Teacher, is that clock slow?

But Dobson isn't finished. He has a follow up. This must be what hell feels like.
Dobson:
In your private conversations with Senator McCain, it is your impression that he also strongly supports those views? I know that he did not oppose that platform when it was written. Do you think he will implement it?
I just remembered, I have an early out for band. Gotta go! No? Okay. Could you repeat the question?

What are the new words? "McCain" and "implement." Implement means "do."
Palin:
I do, from the bottom of my heart. I am such a strong believer that McCain believes in those strong planks and we do have good conversations about some of the details of the different planks and what they represent. I'm very heartened that John McCain ... he doesn't want a Vice President who will check the opinions ... of me at the door and we talk about some of these and they're very important. It's most important though, as you're suggesting, that Americans know that John McCain is solidly there on those solid planks in our platform that build the right agenda for America.
